Air Ambulance Support

Lions in District 105SE are supporting the provision of a night-flying capability for the air ambulance for Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Lion President John Gee with First Responders Team Leader Nickie Smale and Director of Operations Leigh Curtis

A party of 13 which included a Team Leader from our local First Responders whom the club support visited Redhill Aerodrome on the 20th July 2013 to look at the Air Ambulance. Though the weather was overcast the atmosphere surrounding the presentation was brilliant. Following an excellent BBQ we were invited to go and view the helicopter and have the workings explained to us in detail.

We were very lucky to have the Director of Operations who knew the facts about every nook and cranny of this special helicopter. Following this was the cheque presentation of £150K that had been raised in the first 15 months by the Lions Clubs of the South East.

Burgess Hill District Lions club members felt after the visit that it was truly a well organised event and were pleased to understand how the money is going to be spent to assist with the costs of Night Flying.
