Burgess Hill District Lions depends on many different activities to fund all its welfare projects. One large on-going activity is the "Book Den" - the second-hand book shop in the town centre (99 Church Walk) where anyone is welcome to bring their old books, jigsaws, CDs and DVDs. We will sort them and throw out any unwanted ones.
The Book Den is open six days a week and is a very popular venue in the town. Opening times are as follows:
Monday to Friday: 9.30am to 4.00pm
Saturday: 9.00am to 4.30pm.
All books are sorted into major categories and fiction by author. There's no sales pressure - just take your time and you're bound to find something you want! Please come along and browse.
It's also the final re-cycling place for books as the paper cannot easily be re-cycled. We get through hundreds of books per week so please bring us your unwanted ones - we need them!
The Book Den recently featured in an article in Sussex Living for Mid Sussex, who have kindly given their permission for it to be reproduced here.
We are also grateful to South Downs Nurseries for providing a Book Bank in their Garden Centre where you can drop off your books when you go there, too.

The Lions also held a Book Sale at South Downs Nurseries on 13th March 2011 which proved very popular - see picture above. This was repeated on 4th March 2012 and despite the rain was a success!
