Christmas Grotto

BURGESS HILL DISTRICT LIONS are pleased to announce that Father Christmas is actually going to arrive in style this year by helicopter returning to his own very special grotto that has been built by his helpers at South Downs Nurseries.

CHRISTMAS may have arrived on the Sussex high street, but Father Christmas isn't due for another month. News from Lapland is that Santa will make a spectacular entrance this year and arrive by helicopter, and all in aid of local charity.

He's due to land at South Downs Heritage Centre, in Hassocks, on Saturday 19th November when he'll be giving out presents to all the children who come along to welcome him. Touchdown is due about 10 15am. Every penny he helps to raise is destined to go to Burgess Hill District Lions Club who will ensure it benefits local good causes.

On the ground Santa will be met by Mrs Christmas and his little helpers, the friendly elves who will distribute the presents before taking his seat in a specially constructed grotto inside South Downs Nurseries where he will be busy until Christmas.

"We are so pleased that Santa has agreed to make such a memorable arrival, and hope his visit will help us raise lots of money for the Burgess Hill District Lions Club as they help so many local people," says Mark Hillyard the general manger at the Brighton Road garden centre and tourist destination. Weather permitting; we will be welcoming him at the Heritage Centre. Everyone here is very excited about it."

The popular Hassocks attraction has been decked out in a blaze of seasonal colour, with decorations of every conceivable kind and a walk-in Light Show boasting an unbeatable range of illuminated figures from angels and snowmen, to Father Christmas, reindeer and trees.

Santa will  be at the Grotto every Saturday & Sunday from 19th November till Christmas as follow:

Saturdays 10:00am - 12:30pm & 1:30pm - 4:00pm

Special Shopping Evening Wednesday 30th November 5:30pm - 8:30pm

19th to 23rd December 10:00am - 12:30pm & 1:30pm - 4:00pm

For £3.00 each child has a chance to talk to Santa and receive a present. All monies received go towards Lions local projects. In 2010 all profits went to local Youth Projects.
