David Saunders Memorial Choir Competition

Our longest serving and founder member, David Saunders, passed away in 2015 and in his memory we have organised a competition for Junior School Choirs.

The first Competition was held on 1st March 2016 at Burgess Hill Girls school and over 120 children from five local schools - Manor Field, Southway, Burgess Hill Girls, Sheddingdean and St Wilfrids were watched by 200 parents and Lions as they competed for the prize.

After much deliberation, Southway were deemed the winners by the panel of judges, headed by Rebecca Dowden, a local professional voice coach.

Prizes were presented by David's grand-daughter, Robyn Brotherton, who, with Lions President Sarah Dorrington, made up the rest of the panel of judges.

Burgess Hill District Lions Club are grateful to Burgess Hill Girls school for their superb hosting of the event and to all the choirs that took part.
